Progress on the evaluation of candidates for the position of member in the Superior Council of Magistracy
As of 31 March 2025, the Commission has completed the evaluation of all received candidates for the position of SCM member. The two candidates who passed were appointed as members of the SCM. At present, there remains one vacant seat in the SCM to represent the courts of appeal.
The Commission is mandated to evaluate candidates who submitted their applications after 1 September 2023, for positions as members of the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM), the Disciplinary Board of Judges, or the Selection and Evaluation Board of Judges within the SCM, regardless of the date of submission of their candidacy.
These evaluations are conducted pursuant to Law No.26/2022, which provides for certain measures related to the selection of candidates for positions in the self-governing bodies of judges and prosecutors.
