The hearing of Ion Rusu, candidate for the SCM and for the Disciplinary Board of the CSM

Attorney-at-law Ion Rusu was interviewed by the Vetting Commission as a candidate for the position of member of the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) from among the non-judges proposed by Parliament and member of the Disciplinary Board of judges of the SCM. The hearing took place in the context of the assessment of the candidate's financial and ethical integrity, which was conducted under the provisions of Law 26/2022, rules subordinate to the law and other regulations.

The hearing of candidate Ion Rusu mainly concerned issues of financial integrity, namely inexplicable wealth, the circumstances surrounding suspicious loans, income obtained as an attorney, the deflated purchase price of some land on the outskirts of the capital, as well as the right of use and habitation of a house, also in the suburb of Chisinau.

The Vetting Commission will issue a reasoned decision on passing or failing the evaluation.

📜The evaluation of candidates for the positions of members in the self-administration bodies of judges is carried out based on the following principles:

a) independence of the Evaluation Commission;

b) fairness of the evaluation procedure;

c) publicity of the acts issued in the evaluation process;

d) exceptional nature of the evaluation.
