Hearing of Petru Păun, candidate to the Board for the selection and evaluation of judges

Judge Petru Păun from the Chișinău Court was interviewed by the Vetting Commission as a candidate for the position of member in the Board for the selection and evaluation of judges of the Superior Council of Magistracy. The hearing took place in the context of the assessment of the candidate's financial and ethical integrity, which was conducted under the provisions of Law 26/2022, rules subordinate to the law and other regulations.

During the hearing, the Commission members wanted to clarify an integrity issue related to the non-declaration of habitation rights over an apartment in which the candidate resided from 2011 to 2012.

The Vetting Commission will issue a reasoned decision on passing or failing the evaluation.

📜The evaluation of candidates for the positions of members in the self-administration bodies of judges is carried out based on the following principles:

a) independence of the Evaluation Commission;

b) fairness of the evaluation procedure;

c) publicity of the acts issued in the evaluation process;

d) exceptional nature of the evaluation.
