The Judicial Vetting Commission announces the initiation of hearings for judges of the Central Court of Appeal, renamed from the Chișinău Court of Appeal as of 27 December 2024. Today, the Commission sent notifications to several judges, inviting them to participate in hearings to clarify concerns regarding financial and/or ethical integrity.
The initial notifications were sent to judges Angela Braga, Ala Malîi, Olga Cojocaru, Ion Bulhac, Denis Băbălău, Silvia Cecan, Alexandru Spoială, Mihail Diaconu, Marina Anton, Oxana Robu, Victoria Sîrbu, Marcel Jugănari, and Igor Chiroșca. Additionally, Diana Ioniță, a candidate for the position of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ), has been invited to participate in this round of hearings.
The notifications sent by the Commission detail any concerns related to the judges' integrity. These concerns will be addressed during the hearings. The notified judges and the candidate are required to confirm their attendance within three days. Should a participant choose not to attend, the Commission will finalize the evaluation based on the information collected throughout the vetting process.
In line with the Rules of Organization and Functioning of the Vetting Commission, participants may request access to their complete evaluation files. This request must be submitted to the Secretariat at least seven days before the scheduled hearing. The Secretariat will provide the requested documents in digital format within three days of receiving the request.
The Vetting Commission will release a detailed schedule of hearings once participants confirm their attendance.
