Two candidates for Evaluation and Selection Board of Judges, passed by the Vetting Commission

Two candidates for the position of member in the Evaluation and Selection Board of Judges of the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) passed the external evaluation. According to the Vetting Commission, Judge Petru Păun from the Chișinău Court and Judge Adrian Cerbu from the Criuleni District Court meet the criteria of financial and ethical integrity outlined in Law 26/2022 under which they were evaluated.

The Vetting Commission has sent its reasoned decisions to the two candidates and to the SCM. The evaluation results have been published on the Commission's website at www.vettingmd.eu.The candidates are to notify the Commission if they oppose or agree to the publication of the decision within 48 hours. In the absence of such notification, the Commission will publish the decisions on its website.

Candidates to the SCM and its Boards, entered in the competition after 1 September 2023, are evaluated by the Vetting Commission, as established by Law 252/2023 on external evaluation of judges and prosecutors.

In the competition to fill the vacancies in the Evaluation and Selection Board for Judges of the SCM,13 candidates applied and were submitted by the SCM to the Vetting Commission for evaluation. One candidate withdrew. Out of the remaining 12 in the competition, four passed the evaluation. The decision regarding a recently heard candidate is pending. The rest of the candidates will be evaluated in the following period.
