The Chairman of the Vetting Commission, Scott Bales, participated in the Justice Reform and Anti-Corruption Forum. During the panel "Judicial Vetting Insights and Lessons Learned,” he presented a detailed overview of the progress made by the Judicial Evaluation Commission and the challenges encountered over the course of its 15 months of operation.

Scott Bales emphasized that, while it is natural for people to desire a faster progression of the process, the current level of development in the extraordinary evaluation of certain categories of subjects in Moldova is commendable. This transformational process will lead to a higher level of integrity among those administering justice and will have long-term effects for the country and its citizens.

Additionally, Mister Bales highlighted the independence of the Commission in conducting its analysis and determining whether a subject passes or fails the evaluation. He noted that although the Commission operates autonomously, there is continuous dialogue with public or private authorities when requesting information about subjects, submitting reports and evaluation decisions, and addressing any obstacles that may delay the process.

Given that the quality of the evaluation process depends on multiple factors, Scott Bales also discussed the challenges faced by the Commission in the evaluation process during the forum. In this context, he underscored the importance of maintaining an open and constructive dialogue with public authorities to overcome these challenges.
