Vetting of Courts of Appeal starts with the evaluation of the Chisinau Court of Appeal

2024-04-12

The Vetting Commission starts the evaluation of courts of appeal and has already sent notifications to 40 judges of the Chisinau Court of Appeal, informing them about the initiation of the evaluation procedure. The evaluation of this category of subjects will be carried out according to the criteria of financial and ethical integrity, established by Law no. 252/2023.

Notified judges are requested to complete and submit to the Commission the Declaration of Assets and Personal Interests form for the last 5 years, as well as the Declaration form on the list of close persons in the judiciary, prosecution, and public service, within 20 days from the date of dispatch of the notification by the Commission.

In support of the subjects to be checked, the Commission has provided clear templates and examples for completion of the forms, including a pre-filled 5-year Declaration with fictitious data included. These tools have been designed to ensure correct understanding of the requirements and to facilitate the completion process.

Judges were also provided with the EthicsQuestionnaire form, which is mandatory to complete in this case. The Commission also sent a copy of its Rules of Organization and Functioning, recently amended to regulate the procedures and stages of the evaluation, including under Law252/2023.

Citizens and media representatives who have information relevant to the evaluation process of these judges are encouraged to send it to the Commission for consideration, using the Secretariat's e-mail address: secretariat@vettingmd.eu
