The Judicial Vetting Commission informs that, following the examination of correspondence with the judges of the Bălți, Cahul, and Comrat Courts of Appeal, who were recently notified regarding the commencement of their external evaluation, 8 out of 23 judges have submitted their completed 5-year Declaration and Ethics Questionnaire forms.
On 7 November 2024, the Vetting Commission notified the 23 judges from the Bălți, Cahul, and Comrat Courts of Appeal about the initiation of the procedure to evaluate their financial and ethical integrity, in accordance with the provisions of Law 252/2023. The Commission sent the judges the following documents for completion: the Asset and Personal Interests Declaration for the past five years, the Declaration of close persons in the judicial system, prosecution, and public service, and the Ethics Questionnaire. The legal deadline for submitting the requested documents was 20 days, which expired on 27 November.
Therefore, of the 23 notified judges, 8 returned the completed forms: 3 judges from the Bălți Court of Appeal, 3 from the Comrat Court of Appeal, and 2 from the Cahul Court of Appeal. As a result, all judges from the four Courts of Appeal in the Republic of Moldova are currently undergoing evaluation. The judges who decided to undergo evaluation are:

The vetting process for the Courts of Appeal began with the judges of the Chișinău Court of Appeal on 12 April 2024. Following the notification about the initiation of the evaluation, half of these judges resigned.
Vetting is mandatory for all judges of the Courts of Appeal. Failure to provide a reasonable justification for refusing to submit the required documents or for not submitting them within the specified timeframe will result in the Commission determining the failure to promote the evaluation. The consequence of failure is dismissal from office, along with the deprivation of the right to serve as a judge or hold a public office for 5-7 years.
