Several judges and lawyers, subjects of external evaluation, have been invited to hearings by the Vetting Commission

The Vetting Commission has sent hearing notifications to several judges and attorneys, as well as to a representative of civil society, all of whom are subjects of extraordinary external evaluation. Among those invited are:

  • Attorneys Ruslan Berzoi, Ludmila Bolocan, and judge Dorin Munteanu, all candidates for the position of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ);
  • Sitting SCJ judge Mariana Ursachi (formerly Pitic);
  • Candidates for membership in the Selection and Evaluation Board of Judges of the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM), judges Stanislav Grosu, Vitalie Pîslariuc, Vladislav Schibin, and civil society representative Ana Zabulica, who is running for the same position;
  • Candidates for the Disciplinary Board of the SCM, judges Sofia Aramă and Andrei Cazacicov, as well as attorney Ion Rusu;
  • Candidates for the SCM from the Parliament, former judge Anatolie Minciuna and attorney Ion Rusu.

The hearing notifications sent by the Commission include issues regarding the integrity of the subjects, where applicable. These matters are to be discussed during the interviews. The subjects will decide whether to participate in the hearings and will respond to the notifications received within 3 days to confirm their presence at the public interview. In case a subject refuse to participate, the Commission will finalize the evaluation based on the information collected throughout the evaluation process.

The Vetting Commission will provide the subjects with copies of all materials in their evaluation file in digital format, as established in its Rules of Organization and Functioning. The subject may request access by sending an email addressed to the Secretariat at least seven days before the scheduled hearing date.

Preliminarily, the hearings are scheduled for the period of June 11th to June 13th, 2024. The Vetting Commission will provide further details as subjects confirm their attendance.
