On the first day of the June round of hearings, the Vetting Commission conducted public interviews for three candidates for the position of member of the Selection and Evaluation Board of Judges of the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM), one candidate for the position of member of the Disciplinary Board of the SCM, and two lawyers applying for the position of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ). Regarding the majority of these subjects, the Commission did not identify any doubts requiring a detailed examination during the hearing.
Therefore, the candidates for the Selection and Evaluation Board of Judges, Ana Zabulica, Stanislav Grosu, and Vitalie Pîslariuc, evaluated according to the integrity criteria established in Law 26/2022, confirmed the accuracy and validity of the information presented to the Commission during the evaluation process and made brief closing statements if they deemed it necessary.
The Commission did not identify serious integrity doubts regarding the candidates for the SCJ, Ruslan Berzoi and Ludmila Bolocan, evaluated under Law65/2023. During the hearing of judge Andrei Cazacicov, a candidate for the Disciplinary Board and subject to evaluation under Law 26/2022, Commission members had clarification questions regarding the difference between income and expenses in certain years during the evaluation period and the purchase price of the car.
Video recordings of the today hearings will be published on the Commission's website and YouTube channel within 3 days at most. The Commission will strive to approve evaluation decisions regarding the candidates heard approximately one month from the day of the hearing, stated the Vetting Commission's chairperson.
Additionally, the hearing of sitting judge at the Supreme Court of Justice, Mariana Ursachi (formerly Pitic), scheduled for today, June 11, has been rescheduled for a later date.
On June12 and 13, hearings will continue for several other subjects of the external evaluation.
