Willem Brouwer has been appointed as a member of the Commission for the external evaluation of the ethical and financial integrity of judges and candidates for the office of judge of the Supreme Court of Justice. A draft resolution to this effect was approved by 63 deputies.
Willem Brouwer's candidacy was put forward by development partners following the resignation of Maria Giuliana Civinini from this position. According to his CV, Willem Brouwer has been involved in the external evaluation of judges and prosecutors in Albania. Previously, he served as Vice President of the Eulex Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo and as a judge at the Supreme Court in Pristina, Kosovo.
The External Evaluation Commission for Judges and Judge Candidates of the Supreme Court of Justice consists of six members, three proposed by parliamentary factions and three by development partners. Commission members are appointed by Parliament with the approval of 3/5 of the elected deputies.
