2023-10-20

Candidate Crețu exited the competition during the submission phase of the 5-year Declaration, while candidate Macovei did so during the first round of questioning in the evaluation process.

The Vetting Commission informed the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) today about Artur Macovei's decision. Ion Crețu, on the other hand, personally notified the SCM.

Currently, the Commission is conducting evaluations for 3 SCJ judges in office and 20 candidates for the position of SCJ judge from civil society, remaining in the competition after the withdrawal of the two candidates and with the exception of two other candidates who passed the evaluation of the Pre-Vetting Commission

🔻 IMPORTANT: SCJ judges and candidates for the position of SCJ judge who have successfully passed the pre-vetting are not subject to repeated assessment, being automatically eligible for the position for which they are applying.
