New candidates for the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) and the specialized boards of the SCM, submitted to be evaluated by the Vetting Commission

The Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) has forwarded six new candidates for the position of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) and five candidates for positions in the two specialized boards of the SCM to the Vetting Commission for evaluation. In order to be eligible for the positions they are applying for, the candidates will be evaluated by the Vetting Commission from the perspective of financial and ethical integrity.

Therefore, the list of candidates for the SCJ has been completed with the following candidates:

·      Diana IONIȚĂ (Judicial Inspector, Judicial Inspection, SCM)

·      Dumitru MARDARI (Attorney-at-law, former judge SCJ)

·      Grigore MANOLI (Judge, Chișinău Court)

·      Mariana CHERPEC (Prosecutor, Prosecutor's Office of Chișinău)

·      Ruslan BERZOI (Attorney-at-law)

·      Vladimir ADAM (Prosecutor, Anticorruption Prosecutors Office)

 

The Commission will also evaluate the following candidates for the position of member in the Board for the Selection and Evaluation of Judges and the Disciplinary Board of the SCM:

·     Ana ZABULICĂ (Head of Human Resources Department, Alecu Russo State University of Bălți)

·     Eugeniu BEȘELEA (Judge, Chișinău Court)

·     Stanislav GROSU (Judge, Drochia Court, Rîșcani Office)

·     Vitalie PISLARIUC (Judge, Orhei Court)

·     Sofia ARAMĂ (Judge, Cimișlia Court)

 

SCJ candidates will be evaluated based on Law 65/2023, and the candidates for the SCM Boards under Law 26/2022. The Vetting Commission is to determine whether the candidates have had behaviour compatible with professional ethics throughout their activity, whether they have admitted conflicts of interest, whether they have properly declared their assets, and whether these assets correspond to their incomes.

Note: On 30 January 2024, the Vetting Commission acknowledged the promotion of the integrity evaluation provided for by Law no. 26/2022 for one candidate to the position of judge to the Supreme Court of Justice from the recently submitted list - Mariana Cherpec. Therefore, according to Article 3 para. (2) a), she is not subject to evaluation.
