The Vetting Commission publicly announces the withdrawal of candidate Svetlana Slusarenco from the competition for filling vacant judge positions at the Supreme Court of Justice. The candidate has formally communicated her intention to withdraw from the competition by submitting a request to both the Vetting Commission and the Superior Council of Magistracy, the latter acting as the organizer of the competition.
Simultaneously, following the extended competition period, the Superior Council of Magistracy has referred another candidate to the Vetting Commission to initiate the evaluation process. This candidate is Judge Stela Procopciuc from the Court of Appeal Bălți, who has been admitted as a candidate from amongst judges. Her evaluation will be conducted in accordance with the provisions of Law 65/2023, the regulations subordinate to this law, as well as other applicable legal acts.
Therefore, within the framework of the vetting process for the Supreme Court of Justice, the Vetting Commission is currently assessing 3 acting judges of the Supreme Court of Justice and 20 candidates for the position of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice who remain in the competition. The pool of candidates includes judges from various levels of the judiciary, as well as lawyers and prosecutors.
