The Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) examined and approved today the evaluation report regarding the candidate for the position of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice, prosecutor Sergiu Brigai.
According to the conclusions of the Vetting Commission's Report, accepted by the SCM, the candidate meets the criteria of financial and ethical integrity established in Law no. 65/2023 and passes the external evaluation.
Within the next three days from the adoption of the motivated decision by the SCM, the Vetting Commission will publish the evaluation report on its website in a depersonalized form.
Thus far, the Vetting Commission has submitted five evaluation reports to the SCM, all containing a proposal for passing the evaluation. The SCM examined three of them and accepted the Commission's proposal in all three cases.
Context
Sergiu Brigai is the interim deputy chief of the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) and has been evaluated by the Vetting Commission as a candidate for the position of judge of the Supreme Court of Justice.
On 29 November 2023, the Commission invited candidate Brigai to hearings, and on 26 December 2023, it sent its evaluation report to the SCM, with proposal to pass the candidate.
