The Vetting Commission invites seven more subjects of the external evaluation of financial and ethical integrity to hearings. The attorneys-at-law Rodica Chirtoaca, Alexandru Rotari and Ludmila Ouș, who are running for the position of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) and are being assessed under Law 65/2023, have been notified of the hearings. Judges Adrian Cerbu (Criuleni Court), Petru Păun (Chisinau Court) and lawyer Mihaela Pascal, candidates for membership of the Board for the selection and evaluation of judges of the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM), and lawyer Ion Buruiană, who is running for a position in the Disciplinary Board of the SCM, were also notified. Candidates for positions in the two colleges of the SCM are assessed on the basis of the criteria set out in Law 26/2022.
According to the Vetting Commission's Rules of Organisation and Functioning, in the notifications inviting them to the hearings, the Commission has communicated to the candidates all the doubts it has about them to be discussed during the interviews. Candidates may also request access to the material in the assessment file in relation to the integrity doubts identified. Notified subjects have the option of attending or not attending the interviews. If the candidate refuses to attend the hearings, he/she will be assessed on the basis of the information gathered by the Commission.
The Commission has pre-scheduled the hearings for March 12-14, 2024 and will return with details of when the interviews will take place as candidates confirm their attendance.
