The Vetting Commission is resuming the hearings of the judges of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) and the candidates for the position of SCJ judge

The Vetting Commission will conduct new public hearings during the week of January 15 - 19, 2024, as part of the evaluation of judges of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) and candidates for the position of SCJ judge. Eight candidates and one acting SCJ judge will be interviewed in accordance with the provisions of Law 65/2023 on the external evaluation of judges and candidates for the position of judge of the Supreme Court of Justice, as well as the Rules of organization and functioning of the Commission.

  • 10:00 AM - Aurelia Cazacliu (SCJ candidate)
  • 2:00 PM - Andrian Ciobanu (SCJ candidate)

Tuesday, January 16

  • 9:00 AM - Ion Buruiană (SCJ candidate)
  • 2:00 PM - Aliona Ciocanu (SCJ candidate)

Wednesday, January 17

  • 9:00 AM - Irina Iacub (SCJ candidate)
  • 2:00 PM - Ion Tețcu (SCJ candidate)

Thursday, January 18

  • 9:00 AM - Mihail Lvovschi (SCJ candidate)
  • 2:00 PM - Svetlana Balmuș (SCJ candidate)

Friday, January 19

  • 9:00 AM - Mariana Ursachi (Pitic) (acting SCJ judge)

Journalists, representatives of civil society, and the general public are invited to participate in the hearings by notifying the Commission's Secretariat in advance at the email address press@vettingmd.eu by Friday, January 12, 6:00 PM. Notifications will specify the participant's name, surname, and the represented organization, as applicable. The hearings will take place at the Superior Council of Magistracy - Chișinău, M. Eminescu Street 5.

Note: Third parties present in the room where the interviews will take place will not be allowed to film, broadcast live, or take photographs. The hearings will be recorded by the organizers through audio and video means. Interested journalists will receive photos from the hearings from the Commission's Secretariat.
